VARIETY.COM – Netflix is staying in business with Joel Kinnaman; the Swedish-American actor has joined the streaming service’s political drama “House of Cards” for Season 4, it was announced late Monday night.

Netflix broke the news via its official Twitter account with a cryptic message that read, “Welcome to Washington, Joel Kinnaman,” and a photo showing Kinnaman facing off with Kevin Spacey’s Frank Underwood.

Kinnaman’s role is still under wraps, but he’ll join new Season 4 additions including Neve Campbell, who is a series regular, and Colm Feore, who will recur.

Netflix recently announced that “House of Cards” has been renewed for a fifth season, which will continue without the involvement of creator Beau Willimon. Star Kevin Spacey just won a Screen Actors Guild award for his lead role in the series, beating out “Mad Men” star Jon Hamm, “Game of Thrones” star Peter Dinklage, “Better Call Saul’s” Bob Odenkirk and “Mr. Robot’s” Rami Malek.

Best known Stateside for his role in AMC’s “The Killing” — which was acquired by Netflix for a shortened fourth season after AMC cancelled the murder mystery series — Kinnaman will next be seen in Warner Bros.’ “Suicide Squad” alongside Jared Leto, Will Smith and Margot Robbie. Other upcoming roles include thrillers “Backcountry” and “The Bends.”

“House of Cards” Season 4 will debut on Netflix on March 4.
